APPLICATION METHOD
All roofs must be structurally sound and stable.
In accordance with good roofing practice roofs should allow correct falls and not pond water 24 hours after prior rainfall.
1. Begin by removing all loose gravel if present. Follow this by pressure washing all surfaces to be coated. Embedded stone not removed by washing will not cause a problem, though product usage may be more intensive over these areas. It should be understood that Liquid Rubber is primarily an adhesive and as such bonding will be inhibited on a unclean or loose surface.
2. Once surface is clean and dry any repairs, seams or upstands can be addressed by applying a heavy coat of Liquid Rubber High Build to these areas then, using a dry paint brush, press in the reinforcement textile (Geo Textile Re Enforcement) so it soaks up the rubber thoroughly. It will be necessary on pipes, drains and corners to snip the lower half of the textile so it sits flush on the roof while bending around the pipe or corner. This is best done before the application of Liquid Rubber High Build used to stick it down. The textile will be painted over when the full roof is treated.
3. Once touch dry, you can roller or brush the first coat of Liquid Rubber High Build over the entire roof to give a 1mm thick coat (or 1 litre per square metre). If you find this hard to judge don’t worry as you can re-coat uniformly until your supply of Liquid Rubber High Build is finished.
Important Points:
Liquid Rubber should be touch dry in 1 to 4 hours.
1. Do not apply if there is a chance of rain within this time.
2. Spend time on preparation. A conscientious job will pay off with a long lasting membrane.
3. Don’t try to coat a wet roof!
